In Celtic’s 36 games this season so far Brendan Rodgers has deployed no less than 30 different starting XIs. A quite incredible stat.

Much of this is down to the enforced absences of players such as Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki through injury.

Likewise, Liel Abada has been unavailable for very different reasons whilst others like Odin Thiago Holm, Alexandro Bernabei and James Forrest have struggled to nail down a consistent first team place.

Whatever the reasons behind these inconsistencies, the manager now needs to find a settled and trusted line-up that can see us find a consistently high level of performance throughout the 11 remaining league games of the campaign.

One or two positions will always chop and change – particularly in the wide areas – but who are the eight or nine players the manager can firmly hang his hat on at this stage?

Our second-half display against Motherwell was particularly encouraging as the Bhoys grabbed three goals without reply. And two-goal Adam Idah, Yang on the wing and midfield powerhouse Tomoki Iwata will feel they’ve done enough to merit a start as we face Dundee at Celtic Park tomorrow night.

There are tough calls for the manager to make as he considers starting without the talismanic Kyogo Furuhashi, as well as recent additions like Nicolas Kuhn and Luis Palma.

That’s the job he’s paid to do though. It’s a welcome headache to have as he debates who gets the nod in his latest line-up.

One player who is an absolute must is defensive rock, Cameron Carter-Vickers. Put simply, we’re a completely different team without the USA international – just ask Motherwell’s Theo Bair – and his return after an absence of four games is a huge boost to Celtic ahead of this title run-in.

Last week we called for a one game at a time approach, starting with Motherwell. And whilst it took us approximately 45 minutes to get going for that one, the hope is that we can pick up where we left off at Fir Park from the very first whistle against Dundee.

A win of course is the priority, but adding to the goals tally as well as putting in an impressive performance are also on the wish list as we get set for matchday 28 of this season’s Scottish Premiership.

  1. One thing has become glaringly obvious, he certainly CANNOT trust the Scottish media!
Once again they have proven beyond a shadow of all doubt that they intend to distract him at all costs.
The Scottish media are scum, let’s not kid ourselves. They fall into the same category as the sfa/spfl and Scottish judiciary.
They have that archaic bias that is highlighted by the allowing of the childish July 12 marches while banning others.
