Hang in there folks, the return is in sight.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Celtic took care of St Mirren to maintain the eight-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but that’s more than enough time away from competitive action.

Highland League side Buckie Thistle provide the opposition for Sunday’s Scottish Cup fourth round clash and with a suggested 3,000 travelling away fans it could be a lively afternoon at Celtic Park.

With the added possibility of seeing new signing Nicolas Kuhn for the first time it’s set to be an enjoyable way to start the second half of the campaign.

Off the park there’s growing frustration among supporters that more transfer business hasn’t been done just yet and though we’ve seen Yosuke Ideguchi, Kwon and Adam Montgomery head out of the club, it’s the lack of incomings that’s of most concern.

So while German winger Kuhn is a welcome addition, we now have just two weeks to secure the left-back and striker that are so badly needed.

This is no sleight on Greg Taylor, Kyogo or Oh (currently with South Korea at the Asian Cup) but simply a realisation that we’re just one or two injuries away from having serious issues in these positions.

The lack of competition can also lead to complacency and that’s one thing the Hoops can’t afford as we get set to re-engage in a title race that’s become far closer than we expected just a couple of months ago.

Rumours continue to link us with Liverpool’s Owen Beck and Brondby’s Mattias Kvistgaarden but Kuhn remains the sole arrival so far.

Of further concern may be reports linking Cameron Carter-Vickers with a return to England with West Ham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest all supposedly in for the USA international.

If we can keep key players like Carter-Vickers in the next fortnight while adding a couple more first-team ready players then we can put that down as a successful window.

In the meantime, bring on the Buckie.
