Approaching half-time at De Kuip it looked like Celtic had done enough to enter the break level pegging, but a momentary lapse in concentration gave the Dutch Champions all the incentive the needed to take an all important lead on Matchday 1.
Having put so match into the opening exchanges Brendan Rodgers side were then staring down the barrel in the second half and ultimately it was more poor decision making in key moments that ensured we left Rotterdam with nothing to show for our efforts.
In a hostile atmosphere it was a game of high drama with new Bhoys Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm both seeing red on the nigh and Rodgers’ new look side now need to regroup very quickly if we’re to take something from Group E.
Celtic simply won’t get away with such naivety on the big stage and whilst there are positives to take from elements of the game, lessons need to be learned fast at this level.
