Celtic had a chance to salvage something from what’s been a woeful season so far but failed miserably by giving up their Scottish Cup in a timid display at Ibrox.
The big news pre-match was that James Forrest had failed to make the starting line-up but in truth it likely wouldn’t have had a huge bearing on the final outcome as the team showed a fragility that’s been all too evident this season.
Despite the poor performance Celtic actually created the more clear cut chances over the 90mins – including a poor Odsonne Edouard penalty – but overall there can be no complaints as this 2020/21 season finally fizzled out. However as Yazz (ask your dad!) once famously said, The Only Way is Up and all eyes are now on incoming CEO Dominic McKay who starts his job in earnest tomorrow morning. A new Head Coach and Director of Football must surely be high up on the to-do list, closely followed by managing a huge squad overhaul in the coming weeks. Easy days!
