CELTIC took advantage of results elsewhere to take an early lead in the title race this weekend as goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis were enough to see off Hearts at Celtic Park.
It perhaps wasn’t the free flowing we’ve come to expect from Ange Postecoglou’s side, but at the same time it was a deserved victory and a result that sees us maintain our 100% start to the league campaign.
Hearts’ manager Robbie Neilson bemoaned some refereeing decisions post-match and in truth if he put as much focus on his teams approach to the game as he did to his complaints then they may just have fared a bit better on the day.
This week will see Celtic take their place in the draw for this season’s Champions League group stages as we return to European football’s top table. We join the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSV Eindhoven on that stage and anticipation is building as to who face following Thursday’s draw.
It all takes place at 5pm Celtic Park time from Istanbul (where this season’s final will take place) and we’ll bring you the breaking news on that as it happens.
In other news clubs continue to cut the away allocation for Celtic supporters and in a puzzling move St Mirren have taken a particularly unique approach to this as they try to appease their fans.
