Celtic got their first point in Group F after a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk in Warsaw though many will see it as an opportunity lost, with Ange Posetcoglou’s men creating enough chances to take all three points on the night.
The Bhoys made a storming start to the game, completely dominating the early exchanges, and took a deserved lead inside ten minutes through Reo Hatate’s deflected effort.
Like last week however a failure to capitalise on long spells of possession allowed Shakhtar to land a sucker punch with an equaliser from the lively Mudryk on the half hour mark.
The approaches from each side couldn’t have been on starker contracst in the second half, with Celtic doing all the probing but unable to find that winner with the biggest chances falling to Giakoumakis and to Maeda.
In the weeks ahead this one may well be viewed as a very important point for Celtic, but the over-riding feeling just now is off an opportunity lost in Warsaw.
Tino & Mif were on the mics to review all the key talking points from Matchday 2 of this season’s Champions League.
