VAR made it’s debut in Scottish Football at the weekend with Celtic falling the wrong side of some questionable calls against Hearts as Nick Walsh, Steven McLean and co. tried their hand at the new technology.
Several decisions went against Ange Postecoglou’s side on the day but this isn’t just a VAR thing, so is now the time for Celtic to call out the SFA on some of the sub-standard refereeing we’re experiencing?
Just as recently as our 6-1 over Hibs at Celtic Park the aforementioned McLean had a shocker at Celtic Park with some inexplicable calls across the 90 minutes.
The time for Celtic to take such action is when we’re winning – which we are – otherwise it can look like sour grapes.
All eyes will be on VAR in the coming weeks as the SFA play catch up on the rest of the major European leagues and Celtic could do far worse than mark the card of Scottish Football’s governing body as we enter a vital run of games ahead of next month’s World Cup break.
