Celtic’s first team is littered with graduates from the club Academy which is something all involved should rightfully be proud of.
Captain Callum McGregor, modern day legend James Forrest, reborn full back Anthony Ralston and young centre half Stephen Welsh have all made the transition from the youth set up to the senior squad, which should give great encouragement to the next generation.
But where are all the young Celtic strikers?
The No.9’s for which we were once so famous for?
The Bhoys who put the ball in the back of the net?
There have been moderate successes over the years in the shape of Shaun Maloney, Mark Burchill and Simon Donnelly (though he was with Queen’s Park before switching to Celtic) but where are those genuine goal scorers who’ll get you 20+ goals a season?
Charlie Nicholas, who broke into the Celtic first team way back in 1979 (44 years ago!) may be the last genuine example.
